The Oroua tennis oourts bore a very gay appearance on .Saturday afternoon last when the members of~ the Papaioea Tennis Club, Palmerston, visited this town and tried conclusions with our local champions. The courts were iu excellent condition and some real good play was put in by both clubs. The lady members of the Oroua olub provided afternoon tea, and the vice-presi-dent, Mr Pirani, at the conclusion of the games thanked the visitors for their attendance. Cheer* were given for the visiting team, and Mr I Graham, on behalf of the Papaioea, returned thanks. Play concluded about 6.80. Feilding won by 10 eete to 1 and 95 gam3S to 49. The following are the scores:— Ladies , Doubles.—Miss M. Gould and Bray beat Mies Stace and Kerslake9—l. Ladies' Singles.—Miss Bray beat Miss Stace 9—2; Miss Gould beat. Miss Eerslake 9—6. Mixed Doubles.—Mies Bray and H. B. Strange beat Miss Eerslake and D. Graham 9— i ; Miss M. Gould and G. Gould beat Miss Stace and Drew 9—6. ' ' • • • • ..- .- Gents' Singles.— H. B. Strange beat D.
