An Auckland telegram states that a steward on & coastal boat who applied to the Health Department for advice as to the extermination of cockroaches, after being unsuccessful with kerosene, crude petroleum, benzine, boric acid and carbolic acid, claims to have entirely rid his ship of the pest by using a substance found in the natural state- at £auranga. Cockroaches are a serious nuisance on steamers and the experiments which are being carried out will be watched with considerable interest.
