THE AMOKURA.

The Government experiment in the turning out of sailors is already proving a success. No discipline better regulates boys than sea discipline. The combination of the Sobraon and the Dart [in New South Wales has produced some remarkable results on unpromising material, and already the Amokura lias shown every indication of success. After "salting" her boys about Cook Straits and incidentally proving the stuff they were made of by the manner in which they held manfully to duty in spite of sea sickness, she is off on a longer crnsie to the Ward Country—the Bluff. But in demonstrating her success, the ex-gunboat has also demonstrated her uusuitabiilty. She is too small to accommodate the boys available, and the Minister for Marine (Mr Miller) has already come to the conclusion that a second vessel will be necessary—one to aot as a depot ship and the other to cruise.
