In connection with the train service beyond Mataroa, on the M ain Trunk i line, it is proposed to extecd the running of the passenger train to Ohakune as from November 1. The effect of this will be to shorten the coach trip six miles, and to accelerate the journey of passengers from the north, who will now be able to reacli Mataroa at 5.45 p.m., connecting with the train for Taihape, which leaves at 6.25. This will enable them to spend the night at Taihape. iostead of Waiouru, and to catch the early train next morning, allowing them to reach Wanganui at 11.30 a.m., or Wellington at 5.5 p.m. Munt, Cottrell and Co.. general carriers and forwarding agents.
