Wanganui v. Manawatu.
On the Showgrounds this afternoon, Palmerston lovers of Rugby should be afforded an opportunity—which has been rather rare thia Beaßon—of witnessing a good exhibition of New Zealand's national winter pastime. The team which Wanganui is putting in the field this season is considered the best that the riverside town has had for many seasons, especially in the back division, which contains an "All Black" in H. Abbott, and' an old Auckland rep. player in G. Absolum. The visitors will arrive by 11.15 a.m. train and will be entertained at lunch by the Manawatu Union at the Cafe de Paris. The game will be started punctually at 2.30 p.m., as the Wanganui players have to catch the 4.50 p.m train. The Kev. C. C. Harper will have charge of the whistle, and two 45 minute spells will be played. It is customary in moßt places for the members of a local team, win or lose, to assemble after the contest and give the visitors a heirty send off. Palmerston has in the past been an exception to this desirable and generally adopted oustom. The Palmerston playerfc have 'an opportunity to-day of extending a cordial send off such as all visiting teams are justly entitled to receive. The Manawatu rep. team to meet Wairarapa at Ma&terton on Thursday next will be picked at the conclusion of to-day's game against Wang*uiuL
