FIRES.
Press Association. Wellington, July 26. The fire which did so much damage ! at the Meat Export Company's fellmongery at Ngaliauranga last night was the second outbreak in the same building within a month. Last night's fire destroyed the upstairs portion of the fellmongery and the ooutents, including a large quantity of wool, a large motor and generator and several drying machines. The machinery on the ground floor was damaged by water. The workmen used a large Merryweather fire engine with good results and the City Fire Brigade rendered excellent service, despite the fact that it was summoned at a rather late stage. The building was insured in J;he Alliance aiid other offices for £3550, and plant, electrical fittings, etc., in same offices for £3080. The insurance on wool is not available. Dunedin, July 26. j Dawson and McKechnie's big sawmill at Ratanni was destroyed by fire this morning. No particulars are yet available.
