WRECK OF A SCOW.
Per Press Association. Auckland, July 23. A telegram from Tairua states that a messenger from Ohui has just ridden over and reported: that the scow Surprise went ashore on the rocks about a mile from the north end of Ohui beach and ia a totad wreck. The captain, mate and two seamen are supposed to be drowned. A fifth hand got ashore and found hia way to Ohui, where he is being well looked after by Mr Jas. McGregor. He is badly knocked about and rambles a little in his talk but is expected to be well in a, day or two. His name is Harry Jackson. From what can be gathered from hia account the scow dragged her anchors right from Slipper Island and went ashore on the coast early on Sunday morning. '
