THE SUBMARINE VOLCANO.
Press Association—Copyright. . Stdnbt, July 23. The Navua, from the Islands, reports that the volcanic disturbances located south-west of an island, in the sea some miles from the shore. The Premier of Tonga, who visited the spot, states that there appear to be vents not far from each other. There was a ruehing, boominir sound and columns of smoke and steam, mixed with black pumice, were thrown into the air with tremendous noise. One column was olose on a hundred feet high. The vents were playing alternately and should the outbreak continue the formation of a new island is predicted.
