— ■ ' • . To-day's Meeting. The final payments fer the Maiden Stake of 40 BOVB and the entries for the Members' Sweepstake, to be run at the inaugural meeting of the Palmereion Coursing Club, to be held at Terrace End to-day and tomorrow, olosed last night. In the Maiden Stake the very large number of 52 accented, while the Members' Sweepstake also filled ?ery well, 29 dogs being nominated. A large number of coursing enthusiasts arrived from Wellington, Wairarapa and Hawke's Bay yesterday to attend the meeting, which with favourable weather oonditions gives promise of being a remarkably successful one.
Mr Dowling, the judge, is expected to arrive by first train this morning from Master ton, and the fit at course will be run shortly after 11 a m.
Space will not permit of publishing the list of the draws, but the official programmes containing same will be available early this morning. Five well known metallioians paid ft fee of £2 2s last night for the privilege of doing business at the fixture, and owners will have ample opportunity of supporting their dogs to win a good stake. It has been deoided to divide the member's sweepstake up as follows.— Ist dog £15, 2nd £5, and 6 dogs at £1 each.
