Hastings Training Notes.

Hastings, May 7. There were only a few gallops ou the course this morning. Grand. Slam and Riflemaid were looked' together at the end of six furlongs in lmin 22sec. Gold Orest and Gauze covered a similar distance in lmin 2lßeo. Strathcona ran away from Matakokiri over six furlongs on the plough in lmin 20sec. King Billy beat Gazeley over six furlongs in lmin 23seo. Robin Link ran four furlongs in 50sec. The best gallop of the morning was witnessed between Volume, Sandix and St. Joe. Sandix got a bad start, but was only half a lengtlx behind Volume at the finish, St. Joe half A dozen lengths, away
The weather now is beautifully fine.
Hawke's Bay Meeting. Notes by " Augur." Attention of racing enthusiasts will be turned to Hastings to-day, where the Hawke's Bay J.C. will hold their Autumn, Meeting. Racing in this district, which had been somewhat stagnant, is evidently now on the up grade. Quite an exceptionally good response has been received, by Mr J. E. Henrys from owners for today's events, and a capital day's spcrt should result. My anticipations are as follows:— Longlands Hurdles, If miles.—Merriwai 11.3 and Nadador 10.2. Nursery, 5 furlongs.—Oxton 8.12 and Monardo 6.13. Hawke's Bay Cup, 1} miles.—Volume 8.6 and Sir Tristram 8.7. Poukawa Hack, 5 furlongs.—Prosser's best and Waicola 7.8. Porangahau Handicap, 6 furlongs.— Lady Annie 9.3 and Medallist 8.0. Karamu Hurdles, 1} miles.—Black Bey--nard 10.8 and Florio 9.9. Autumn Handicap, 1 mile.—Kurawaka 7.12 and Pantalon 6.13.
