A quantity of tow shipped at Wei lingtoH on Friday last was found to bo. on fire in the hold of the Mokoia shotly after midnight. The trouble was "discovered when the lumpers took the hatches off in order to coinmeuc? the discharge of the steamer's ear;,':). It is stated .that rain was filling when the tow was taken ou li-vu'd at Wellington, which would enhance the liability to spontaneous combustion The fire brigade (Dunedin) speedily extinguished ; the fire.
