CANCER TREATMENT.
Hungarian Surgeon's Sensationa Experiment.
The official organ of the Hungarian Medical Board publishes a sensational report of a new and, so far, very successful treatment of cancer. Dr. Franz Hauer, a surgeon, is the author of the article, in which he describes the new treatment discovered by himself. A year ago, writes Dr. Hauer, an article published by some medical paper was brought to his attention, in which it was stated that the subcutaneous injection of gelatine was effectual as a hemostatic remedy. Astherewere by that time some persons suffering from cancer under his treatment, and as all the hemostatic remedies he had tried with them proved inefficacious, he decided to try the gelatine. The first effect was a very high fever, and Dr. Hauer feared serious complications. Shortly after, however, the fever vanished, and the bleeding ceased. Encouraged by this result, Dr. Hauer repeated the injections, and soon realised that his patients felt better. The wounds became cleaner, the pains were less ened or ceased at all, and the weight of the very weakest patients increased in a surprising way. In one case of cancer the wound healed completely. In seven other cases he attained an almost complete healing with only small and unimportant remainders. In live cases out of forty the injections were of no effect. The experiment is being continued, and, as our medical authorities tell me, it is most likely to turn the disquisitions ofgthe healing of cancer to u quite unexpected departure.
