WEDDING BELLS.
A pretty wedding was celebrated by Eev C. C. Harper at St. Peter's Church, Palmerston, on Tuesday last, when Miss Ellen Edith Jarrett, eldest daughter of Mr G; P. Jarrett, was united in the bonds of matrimony to Mr J. B. Batemwi, of the Post Office staff, Christchurch. The bride was most tastefully dressed in white glace silk covered with figured chiffon, with veil and orange blossoms, and carried a handsome shower bouquet, the gift of Mrs T. R. Moore. She was attended by four bridesmaids —Mis» Eva Jarrett, sister of the bride, who wore a silk crepe de poplin dress, black leghorn hat with ostrich plumes; Misses Maisie Bateman (sister of the bridegroom), Muriel Watson (Levin), and Eileen Woodfield, who were all attired in Kate Greenaway book muslin, and carried crooks. The bride was given away by her father, and the bridegroom was attended by Mr L. G. Home, The bride's wedding present from tne bridegroom was a handsome gold watch, while the bridesmaids received from the same source pretty gold-mounted brooches.
The bride's gomg-away dress was a navy blue costume with a preen hat. The honeymoon is to be spent on an extended trip through Canterbury a&d Otago. __________
