POLITICIANS BARRED.

(Per Press Association.)

Auckland, Last Night. A matter connected with the approaching Harbor Board elections was raised to-day fay Mr J. W. Philson. He said he thought it.very undesirable that the Government should appoint mem* bers of Parliament to the Board, and he moved that a telegram be sent to the Premier requesting that the Government should not appoint members of (lit House as its representatives in connection with the coming, election. She argument had been used, he said,, that that members of the Board who were also members of Parliament, could thereby do a great deal for the Board, but he thought members of Parliament could do just as much good for them without being also members of the Board. It was not in the interests of the Board that two of its memberg should be absent irom Auckland for four or five months in the year, and it was on this account that he moved hit motion. As a consequence of present policy the services of a valuable man might be lost in the deliberations of the Board. The members generally agreed with Mr PhiUon's remarks and the motion was carried unanimously.
