SERSOUS CHARGE.
Death of Mvs tSiderkin.
Man Arrested
Yesterday morning, about 8.10, Mrs' Elderkin, proprietress of the Q.C.E. Dining Booms, Main street, died very suddenly. Later in the day a man named Wiliiam Saunders, a bricklayer, who resides on the premises, was arrested on a charge of causing her death.
It is alleged that towards the end of last week, Saunders had some dispute with the deceased which subsequently ended in the woman falling and striking her head on the floor. Apparently she was unhurt at the time, bu had since complained of not being well. Yesterday morning she suddenly expired. Yesterday a post mortem examination was made, the result of which will probably be disclosed at the Police Court to-day.
The late Mrs Elderkin had not been in good health for some time past, and it is probable that the result of the case will not bo as serious as the charge might imply.
The charge will be heard at 10 a.m. this morning.
