Per Press Association.—Copyright. Melbourne, Yesterday* , The P. and 0. Company's steamer Australia was totally wrecked at Point Nopean this morning. No lives were lost.
Tho Australia was inward bound from London, and in charge of Pilot Dennis at the time of the disaster. Bhe struck the Napean reef at about two in the morning. The lifeboat removed the passengers, safely. The crew also landed. The chief officer states the bottom was stove in and the fires put out. The vessel looks a total wreck. No details are to hand.
