THE WINTER SHOW.

Preparations in every case are well forward for the opening ceremony today. Almost all the machinery exhibits are completed, even to tha polishing of the linoleumed floors, and working trials yesterday gave every satisfaction: To-day the great machinery hivo will buzz in earnest.

Poultry was penned yesterday, energetic officials spending the whole day receiving and apportioning the birds. The quarters this year are an improvement on last year. Competent judges say tho collection of birds ie the fiuest ever seen here.

Chesse and butter, root crops, seeds, horticulture, etc., occupied the stewards the whole day in the work of laying out and classifying; while busy hands transformed a bare wall into five distinct and pretty school exhibits. This will be a rare attraction.

The mammoth half-ton cheese arrived aud was duly installed.
