Practice matches were played on the Show Ground yesterday afternoon. There was a strong muster of players, and, the grounds being in good order, some good games resulted. Old Boys defeated Palmerston by four goals to nil. The yellows played a played a pretty passing game, and held the upper hand throughout, but there Was not much merit in the win, for several prominent players were absent from the Palmerston ranks. Mr C. H. Warden controlled/-the game. Midland defeated Pioneer by 5 to 1. The Midland forwards have plenty of pace and dash, and yesterday were a continual source of worry to the blue backs. Beferee—Mr J. Dabniell. Old Boys B beat Methodist by 5 goals to 1. On several occasions the new club took possession of the Old Boys' circle, but the ptessing want of a scoring forward wai again noticeable. When he materialises Methodist's chance of success will go up 60 percent. Mr L. Giorgi referoed.
