Mr Kettle, S.M., gave judgnjem today m the case ia which several ymZ men were charged with playing two-un It was Emitted that IteUSffiS two-up, but for the defence it was contended that the vacant section of land on which they played was not a public place within the meaning of the Act. Mr Kettle pointed out the section wm unfeuoed and people could go there if they pleased, and as a matter of fact people did congregate there. It was not necessary, he said, to prove that the public were there and saw the game— they might have been there -and that being bo, the accugefl must be convicted, A conviction was therefore recorded, and. the accused were ordered to pay coatsthree guineas each.
