Invercabgill, Last Night. ■ Tho first of the disposal sales of stock on the Edendale estate, purchased by the Government, took place to-day, when 2,047 head of cattle, principally the famous doddies, were put through in three hours. The attendance was large and included a good many buyers from as far as Canterbury. Moßt of the cattle, however, will remain in the province. •■>

Mr Mac Donald, late manager of he estate, was a large buyer. The prices obtained were, in the opinion of grazers, good; in fact some said they were too good Of 206 fat bullocks the Christchurch Meat Company took 100 at £8 15s, and Blackie (Timaru) tho balance at £8 10s.

A line •of 44 Hereford bullocks went to the Christchurch Meat Co. at £10 2s 6d; 358 Polled Angus bullocks, 3yrs, were sold at £6 17s; 253 coloured bullocks at £710s 6d and £7 8s ; 255 steers, 2yrs, £6 Is; 233 yearlings £5 10a; 192 Polled Angus breeding cows and 4 bulls £5 11s; 75 Polled Angus heifers and 2 bulls, 2yrs, £5 12s 6d; 25 Hereford heifers and calves £9 2s 6d; 15 Polled Angus breeders with calves £Q 7a 6d; 92 Polled Angus breeding heifers £4 ss; 214 fat speyed cows and heifers £6 2s 6d and £5 lls; 179 speyed heifers £4 12s; 191 do. cows £5; 2yr speyed heifers £4 7s 6d; speyed yearlings £3 17s 6d; 363 calves £3 9s. The sale of horses takes place on the 27th inst.
