Wilford also spoke to a lure* audience, severely criticising the 'methods of the Council, particularly in regard to Us practice of conducting iusiLs camera. In this respect Mr. Wilford quoted from the report of Mr Wright, the late engineer, that the contractors refused to take the responsibility as *o the portion of the tram sinking where the road had been excavated in connection with the gas and water mains. This, he said, had been kept from the ratepayers.
Both candidates received votes of thanks and confidence.
