The trial match was played yesterday in fine weather and on a fair wicket. The second eleven batted first, but after getting 66 for the loss of three wickets, went down badly to J. Skelley and Hall. J. Baker showed good form for 31, as did Holland for 15, but the others were uncomfortable. The Probables had four absentees and had to make up with subs, who, by the way, were no disgrace to the team in their fielding. L. Skelley and Jounnax opened for the senior team, but the former was bowled for eight. Jounnax and Eyre both batted well for their runs and the former had bad luck in being bowled off his chest. Malcolm and Hall made things lively and put on 76 for the third wicket. The team for Wanganui will be picked on Monday. Scores were as follows :— Possilbes. J.
