ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.

Per Press Association. Westport, Last Night. A miner named Edgar died in the Westport hospital this morning as the result of injuries sustained by a fall at the State coal mine. He fell a distance of 15 feet and a heavy plank fell on top of him, crushing him badly, James Edge, a maintenance contractor, at Lyell, suicided last night by hanging himself to a tree. Auckland, Last Night. A fatal tram accident occm-red to-day to a man named John Cavanagh, cook at the Marist Bros.' School. He fell off a car whilst in motion, striking his head on the road and sustaining concussion of the brain. He was removed to the Hospital and died four hours afterwards. Mr Wilcox,in the employ of Mr Hall, coachbuilder, slipped on the footpath in Fitzherbert street last night and broke a leg. The Ambulance. Brigade administered first aid,- and the sufferer was remoyecl to his home.
