TRAINING SHIP QUESTION.
New Zealand " On Her Own.' 1
Press Association—-Copyright. Eeceived February 4, 1.2 a.m.
Melbourne, Tuesday. Sir E. Barton states that he knows nothing of the New Zealand proposal to obtain a training ship for boys. He is inclined to think that New Zealand is anxious to have the services of one of the gunboats that will cease to be attached to the auxiliary squadron. If the new naval agreement comes into effect it makes no provision for a training ship for boys so that in making a fresh proposal on that, New Zealand is adopting its own responsibility. It is not a matter upon which the Federal Government could have anything to say.
