" Sherlock Holmes."

The box plan for the great dramatic production of " Sherlock Holmes," which is to be presented by Mr J: C. Williamson's new English and American dramatic organisation for the first time in Palmerston North ■on Friday and Saturday evenings next at the Theatre Royal, will be opened at Mr Park's stationery depot this morning at 10 o'clock, when a record booking of seats is anticipated. The enormous success which this play has achieved during the present New Zealand tour is so well known that it has created a stimulus in the desire of the Palmerston public to witness it, and there can be little doubt that the theatre will be crowded on each evening of its presentation. The company interpreting the drama is as strong numerically as it is brilliant artistically, there being no less than 40 picked performers, headed by the eminent American actor, Mr Cuyler Hastings, who will impersonate the world-famous detective " Sherlock Holmes." In order to satisfy any doubts on the matter, it may be mentioned that the company will be precisely the same as that which is now delighting overflowing ■ audiences in Wellington, whilst the piece will be produced with exactly the same scenic effects and accessories. One of the marked features in the forthcoming production will be the lighting effects, in which the various scenes are gradually developed before the audience, and finally melt away in the same manner.
