Wanganui beats Manawatu.

This match was p'aytd on the recreation ground yesterday. Batting first on a good wicket, Mana- [ watn collapsed for 72 runs, T. Eyre, 39, being the only batsman to reach double figures. Six men faiJed to score. Fannin five for 32, arid Cave, 4 for 25, bowled I throughout the innings. Wai'ganui's first inniugs realised a | total of 211. J. M. Marshal, 68; G. Marshall, 81; ar>.d Cave, 22, were the highesr, scorers. The Marshall brothers showed splendid form, and registered 75 for the first wicket. J. Skoiley, 4 for 25 was tho bast of the local bowlers. On going in for the second time Manawatu were more like themselves, and ran up a total of 237 for S wickets before "Warden applied the closure. Six batsmen got into double figures— Goldingharn 64, Harden 55, T. Eyre 22, Warden 21, Malcolm 20, Pickering 16, not out. Manawatu had only three-quarters of an hour in which to dismiss Wanganui in their tifcoud innings. Only threo wickets fell in that time, and the visitors therefore won by 139 rurs on the first inuings. J. Skelley captured two wickets for 22 runs, and Hammond one for 17.
