Ecsolvcd " That (he sum of £o be expended in the purchase of books for the library and that Messrs Espiner, Bailey, and Maclean form a sub-committee to se'ect the same." Kesolved " That a Social in aid of the Library funds be held on the evening of 22ud January 1903." Resolved. " That Mr Boyes be asked to audit accounts for the Library." The Hay crops here are splendid, and now v,e hope the weather is more settled they will be safelly harvested, but the past fortnight has been a most trying time and considerable anxiety has existed as to the possibility of saviug the hay. I understand our respected settler. Mr D. L. Smith, gave a liberal donation towards our State School fund, this gentleman in many ways has shown the practical interest he takes in our public institution?, and it will be better for this part if some more of our wealthy settlers follow his example. Mr W. Greenhow, of the Bunny-thorpe-Asburst lload, has built a very handsome residence on his property, winch will materially improve the value and appearance of the same. I hear that steps are being taken to provide a piano for the use of our State i School, and it is intended to arrange a ' few concerts and other kind of enter- ! tainments during the present year, to raise funds for the pur-pose. I hear tlisit a few Sundays ago, our Wesleyan friend, had occasion to call in the aid of the police, to put a stop to some larrikinison wbic'a was getting rather too prominent, but on the occasion of the visit of the constable . everything was remarkably quiet.
