Sickness in the City. Burnt to Death i (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Tuesday. During last year eighteen petitions in | bankruptcy were filed in Wellington, The amount of the liabilities in these oases was £13,469, and the amount cf the assets £9761. . Dr J. S. E. Elliot, son of the Rev. J.. X.. Elliot, has been appointed assistant medical officer at the Wellington District Hospital. There were 191 patients in tho Wellington Hospital to-day, in addition to 24 patients accommodated in a temporary camp hospital at Berhacnpore. Annie Bosen, aged 77 years, was burned to death through falling into an open fire at her daughter's residence at Mangaramarama. At the inquest on the body of Frederick Feild, killed while coaling on the steamer Corinthic on Saturday, the jury returned a verdict that death was aocidentaJ, but were of opinion that no precautions were taken to prevent such accident, and recommended that special provision be made for the future.
