At the Supreme Court Eobert Elms, for sheep stealing, was sentenced to two years' imprisonment; Alex McKay common assault, one year ; Jerein a-> McCarthy,incest with a daugnfcer of 15, 7 years. On a second charge relating to a daughter of 11 stay of proa cd-n;;----■was authorised. The defence auggssttd that the charges were the result, of-Ji conspiracy to get rid of the man.. G-. Botherway, charged with setting tiro to a house he occupied up country, was acquitted.
