RAM FAIR.

♦ The attendance at the ram fair yesterday ;vas capital, considering the state of the weather, and great interest was manifested in the sale. Only Lineolns were offered yesterday, bidding for flock rams being quite equal to that of the previous year, but for studs the demand was noD so great, which was disappointing, considering that first-class sheep by such well-known breeders as F. Sutton (South Island), Bandolph and Walker (Longburn), W. Wilson (Whenuakura) and Hon J. D. Orrnond (Hawke's Bay) were offered. Tlib most extensive purchasers of flock sheep were Messrs Pine and Harris. Messrs Randolph and Walker had 30 flock Lineolns entered for sale, and the whole of these were purchased in one lot at sAgs each by Mr W. L. Hirst, of Palmerston N., for his Waitotava Estate. The highest price for stud Lineolns was paid by Messrs Cowper and Knight, of Dannevirke, who put' chased a first-class ram, bred by Mr J. B. Sutton, for 20gs. Another ram by the same breeder was obtained by Miss Watt, of the Wanganui district, for 18 guineas.

The Palinerston and Fending auctioneers have determined to combine for the future and hold one sale each year in the district. The fairs will take place alternately at Feilding and PaN inerston, and will prove less expensive both to the auctioneers and vendors.

Flock Lincoln rams were taken first, Mr Porritt being the first to occupy the rostrum.
