RAM FAIR.
The annual ram fair held by Messrs Abraham and Williams, in conjunction with the New Zealand Loan nnd Mercantile Agency Co., was commenced ot the yards of the latter today. The total number of rams catalogued was 1293, all the loadiag breeders in Lincolns, Bomneys, Border and English Leicesters, Shrophshire Downs and Southdowns being represented. There is a falling->off in the number of English Leicester and Border Loicester ams as compared with those catalogued lasc year. This is attributed to the great demand for these sheep, so many breeders hav'ig been able to sell readily, at advantageous puces. L:>icolns and Romneys have come forward in larger numbers at this year's fa;r as compared with last year, but Shropshire Downs and Southdowns are about the same in number as last year. Only Lincoln rams were offered to* day, and the hammer was wielded alternately by Mr Pov.-itt (Abraham Bnd Williams) and Mr Carr (Loco and Meroant!!e Agency On.
