FOXTON LOCAL BOARD.
Friday, 18th January, 1878. Commissioners present : Messrs A. J. Whyte, fc.T;. U. '- Cook* F. Loudon, A. Gray, J. W. Liddell (Chairman). The Minutes of. last meeting were read and confirmed. Proposed by Commissioner Whyte, That all defaulters^o the Local Board be sued^at once.- ;. There being no seconder, the proposition fell through. ; Proposedby Commissioner Gray and ; seconded by •Commissioner. Loudon, That all defaulters to; the Local Board pay on demand, or be sued forthwith. Carried. / Proposed by Commissiouer Lpudpn and seconded by Commissioner Why te, That all meetings of the Foxton Local Board be notified i n wt-itirig to the Commissioners at least three days before themeieting. . : Carried. ; . Proposed by Commissioner Whyje, and seconded by Commissioner Grayy That in future all meetings of; the Foxton Local Board be held at the office b£ the Boardi: Main street. -v -J Carried. : Proposed by, . Commissioner Whyte and seconded rby- Commissioner Gray, That all vehicles plying for hire pay an annual license fee of . £1 Is, and have name and number painted on vehiclej the same to take effect from, this -date, and notice to be published by two insertions in ,the " Mauawatu Times." Prppogedas ai? amendment by :Coihmissipner Lpudpn,: That; all outside of the Local Board boundaries; and coming into such boundaries for any class of goods or loading, whether for themselves or for others, with or withbut payment, shall not be liable to pay any tax for so doing; but should they come withini the Lpoal Board boundaries, and perform work for hire within such boundaries, then, in such case, they shall be liable to pay such tax as the Looa}. Board may think fit. ; c There being no seconder/ the amendment fell through, and' ' the ; priginal proposition wa,s put and earned.
