These, lands, have been, open for 'eight months to bond fide residents only, and now contain a population of over 400. With the exception of a small part of the t own which is light bush, the whole of the town and suburban lands are rich, dry fern and flax land, and, as will be seen by the sale-plans, the adjacent country is being opened up by roads converging on the railway stations. The rural lands are subdivided into sections varying from 40 to o.QQ acres ; they are all easily accessible to the railway line, and some of them contain very valuable timber. The upset prices placed upon the land offered for sale are, with the exception of the suburban sections at Halcombe. less than have been realized by sales of the lands adjacent.
