ENTOMBED MINERS RESCUED
NEW YORK, Dec. 29. Rescuers at the Pineville (Kentucky) mine are battling with rock and slate slides, subterranean floods, smoke and black, damp in. an endeavour to reach an estimated 21 or more men still trapped in a mine where a disaster occurred some days ago. Of nine men rescued, after hope had been virtually abandoned, eight were carried out unconscious and the ninth died before he could be moved.
