TURKISH PEOPLE HOMELESS
(ilee. 9.30 a.m.) ISTANBUL, Dec. 30. Two thousand people are homeless as the result of a violent earthquake shock in Western Anatolia, including the Smyrna area. About 300 houses collapsed and about the same number were damaged, but no heavy loss oi life is reported. Panic-stricken people from some villages camped out in the cotton fields despite the Severe cold.
Last week it was reported from Istanbul that earthquake shocks rocked the Turkish Province of Van for a month and that 10,000 people had been rendered homeless, Van being left almost a heap of rubble.
