The Manawatu Racing Club was more fortunate with the weather for the concluding day of its summer meeting on Saturday and the racing was conducted undor ideal conditions. This made a- total of £164,473 for the three days. When tho last three-day moeting was hold in 1940, tho sum of '£114,643 10s was handled. The meeting was well conducted and credit must be given to the president (Mr H.' R. Cooper) and his stewards. Tho secretarial department under Mr J. A. McUonell came through a strenuous time with colour flying. After running an ■ excellent rare in the chief handicap on Thursday, Tavern Light scored a popular win in the Christmas Handicap from Flying Ace and Lady Spiral, who stayed on bettor than .usual after making all tho running. Only five paraded for tho Farewell Hack Handicap and it was an excellent betting contest. Ring Scarf made most of the pace but a furlong from the post the five runners were in a bunch. In a great finish Delinquent beat Leighon's Glory by a neck with Fame a nock away and Solver right up. Leighon's Glory got pocketed and did not get out until it was too late.
