AMATEUR ATHLETICS
A number of members of the Palmerston North Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club contested events at • the Wanganui Club's meeting at Cook's Gardens on Saturday evening. In the 880 yards race A. C. Cozens was placed second. He won the mile from L. Hawthorne (Palmerston North). T. Drinkwater won the 440 yards event. In the cycling section J. Allen won his heat of the 440 yards dash and was placed third in the final. H. Essex was third in the second heat of the same event. Essex was third in the second heat of the one mile, but was unplaced in the final. Allen won the A grade two' mile race.
