FEWER ROAD ACCIDENTS
NEW SOUTH WALES RECORD. SYDNEY, Dec. 27. Though road traffic was the heavist since 1939, there were few accidents in New South Wales over the Christmas periol. Nine persons were killed and about 20 injured in accidents involving motor-cars and motor-cycles. ' Motorists had been asked to exercise special care this Christmas, and police officials today paid tribute to the motorists' caution. The low number of accidents is all the more remarkable because hundreds of patched-up cars were on the road for the first time in years. The bathing toll for the period is two drowned and five badly hurt in surf. A man was killed and his son injured in a fall, and a youth badly burned when a bottle of methylated spirit exploded in his hand;
