METEOR AIRCRAFT
ON LOAN TO N.Z. AUCKLAND, Dec. 26. On loan to the Dominion from the British Air Ministry, a Meteor Mark 111- jet-propelled aircraft similar in design to the Meteor Mark IV. which holds the world speed record of 606 miles an hour, has arrived at Auckland by the Paparoa. The machine is packed in crates, the largest, containing the fuselage, being carried on deck. Owing to Christmas Day intervening the aircraft will not be unloaded until tomorrow. The crates will be taken by barge to Hobsonville, where the Meteor is to be assembled and tested It is unlikely that a start will be made with the assembling until the middle of next month, when a group of srjeeially-trained members ol tne R.N.Z.A.F. are due to arrive from England. .
