CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
TODAY'S RESULTS. (P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, Dec. 27. Finality was reached in only one championship match when the second round of the Victory Chess Congress was nlaved this morning, H. McNabb (Wellington) defeating H. A. McGilvray (Otago) by building up a fine attack with queen and bishops which his opponent was unable to counter. The remaining games were adjourned with considerable play in each. Abbott was two pawn advantage in the end * game with Darwin, and Wade pawn up against Kelling. Tn the major open, Webling beat Mrs Golding and Wood beat Miss Hallis. The remaining games were adjourned. Results of the first class tourney ■were: Webb beat Newsome, Pope beat Hollander, Woolley beat Pearse, Cook and Bevis adjourned.
