TE ARAKURA

(From Our Own Correspondent.) ~ A' most successful flower show was held by tb« Women's Institute. The president (Miss M E. Hansen) thnnked the exhibitors for their splendid support, the. stewards, secretaries, and all who had helped to make the show a success. Mrs F. J. Hockly (secretary of the Manawatu Federation), in opening the show congratulated the institute and exhibitors on the excellent display, and commented upon the high quality of the exihibits, in spite of the wet and windy season. All sections were well supported, the cut bloom class being the largest. Entries totalled 510, which was a slight increase on last year. The judges were:—Mr J. C. Glover (cut flowers), Mrs Brook-field (decorative), Miss 0, Vautier {cook'ing), Mrs Quicke (needlework), Mr J. J. Hume (vegetables). The children's section came in for much attention and the judges (Mrs Brookfield and Mrs Quicke) spoke very highly of the work. Results:—Champion bloom, Mrs P. Duncalf: runner-up. Mrs H.
