MR J. T. PAUL RESIGNS

(Press Assn) WELLINGTON, Sept. 29 The resignation of Mr J. T. Paul, the Director of Publicity, was announced today by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser). * * / "Few men associated with New Zealand's war effort -within the Dominion had a more onerous task than that carried out with Mr Paul's marked ability," said Mr Fraser. Mr Paul was appointed to the position two days before war was declared and his duties involved Press censorship, the direction of war publicity and of film production by_ the National Film Unit, distribution within New Zealand of war publicity material from all the United ~ Nations, the organisation of the news services to the N.Z.E.F. Times in the Middle East and later the Kiwi News iii the Pacific, and other news services to servicemen in the various theatres of war. He also organised the service of official war photographs to the Press. , "The Government and the country are greatly indebted to him and his staff for faithful service rendered in an important part of war service," concluded Mr Fraser. .-■
