CLOTHES FOR UNRRA
As a result of the drive held in Palmerston North for clothes to be forwarded to Europe through the Unrra organisation, the lied Cross Society, which had one of the three depots for packing, filled 23 cases of clothes and the sewing section added a further 11 cases. The United Guild forwarded 12 cases of clothing and two large cartons of footwear. The clothing was secured through direct appeals to the public, collections' by school children, and the efforts of many womenfolk who engaged in sewing to repair or to make garments. The figures mentioned are apart from those of the Lady Galway Guild.
