NEW GOVERNOR-GENERAL
TERM BEGINS NEXT YEAR. (N.Z. Press Association. —Copyright.) (Rec. 12.15 p.m.) LONDON, Sept. 4. The King, on the recommendation of the New Zealand Government, lias approved the appointment of General Sir Bernard Freyberg as Governor-General 1 of New Zealand in succession to Sir Cyril Newall, whose term expires in February, 1946. General Freyberg recently has been in England and" returned to Italy a few days ago.
. The appointment creates a/ precedent for New Zealand as it will be the first occasion on which the post will be filled by a man who has already a close association with New Zealand.
