TRIALS AT AWAPUNI

The track at Awaptini continues to improve and is now in ideal order, with the result that better tim-e-s are being' registered in the work. The polos on the course proper were about 30ft out this morning.

Specialist (A Wadclell) and Ideation (Head) dashed over three furlongs in 39 3.550 c. and did it wc.l.

Sir Bradbury (Tatfersall) and Lord Bradbury (A. Waddell) ran half a mile in 55 l-ssec. Botli are fairly forward. Gay Rouen (Murray) and .Purple Dawn (Thomson) lelt five furlongs behind in 1.12, and in a similar task Fen {Tattersaii) and Bouton d'Or (A. Waddell) registered 1.11.

ilavildar (S. Waddoll) was sent over seven furlongs, returning 1.47 2-5, the last, throe raking 46see. Newel Post (Broughton) was to have gone with Insulate (Bowness), but the latter dropped his rider near the hairier anil Newel Post \%ent on alone to record 1.12 1-5.

Oinahina (I oltins) hit out very freely when running five furlongs in 1.9. She has come fo hand quickly. Tremcllo (Tattersaii) (lid a five-furlong trial in 1.12 Tattersaii has been engaged to ride him in the Wanganui Guineas. He has not taken long to regain his form and is riding work daily. Broiefield (Ew'an) and Impromptu (A. Waddell) were not extended to run five furlongs in ' 1.13. Financial (Bowness) scampered over three furlongs in 40 4-ssec. He came in looking a picture and has improved a good deal since Uevei ilur O v alkerl went at three-quarter pace to the three-furlong post and came homo from there in 42 3 ssee.

Red Glare was out doing pace work. He looks little the woiso for his trip to Riccai'ton Northfiekl (W. Murray) was schooled over eight of the steeplechase fences and gave a clever display. Foxbrae (Jenkins) and Spiro (Buchanan) jumped four hurdles at a sound pace, the exhibition not being without blemish, however. W. J. Broughton has been engaged to ndb Dorrjogne at New Plymouth. Ho was also approached to i ide Immediate in bis Australian engagements and is at present considering the offer. 11. Griffiths's lhrce-year-o]d filly Tula has grown into a very attractive type and looks to have bright prospects. The two-year-old Scroll was given- a run down the straight this morning and showed a good turn of speed. J. Waller has him fairly forward. Mr O. Boyd has a two-year-old by Nizami from Inform that is shaping up i / oly. He has been named Matara-. G. W. New had two of his youngsters on the track and one who took the eye was Next Best, a very neat filly by Man's Pal from Substitute.
