NATIONAL PARTY
WELLINGTON, Aug. 24
Delegates from all parts of New Zealand attended the eighth Dominion conference of the National Party which opened in Wellington yesterday in St. Francis Hall. The president (Mr W. J. Sim, K.C.) welcomed the delegates. Those present included the Leader of the Party (Mr Holland) and Parliamentary representatives, who were introduced to the gathering, some of them having been elected to Parliament since tlie last conference, held in 194.3. There was particular applause for Mrs IT. C. Ross, M P. for Hamilton, and for Mr N. Jones, the National candidate in the recent Dunedin North by-election, who is attending the conference as a delegate from the Dunedin North electorate. After the president’s annual address, it was decided that the address should be printed and circulated. Delegates then considered remits from various electorates.
