FARMING FOR EX-SOLDIERS

‘‘Now that peace has broken out we are getting a lull-scale invasion on the home front,” declared a member' of the Massey Agricultural College Board of Governors, when, at a meeting of the board, it was reported that the Rehabilitation Department wished the college to make provision for the training of about 40U ex-ser-vicemen next year, as compared with over 200 this year. The college’s total enrolments for 1945 are more than 500, which number includes ordinary civilian students. On the basis of this year’s enrolments, the total for 1946 should be about 700. In order to ease ■ the position somewhat, the college authorities have decided to introduce a fourth term of instruction this year, for ex-service-men only. This additional term will not conclude until a few days before Christmas.
