DORIAN SOCIETY

For its August meeting the Dorian Society had another night programme, Mrs C. Gair being responsible for it. In addition to the musical items, Mrs G. Nilsson (lion, secretary) read a paper to show the trends of music from the 18th century to the present day, with particular stress on famous composers of the period. Mrs "\V. H. Loch, who presided, welcomed members and friends and later thanked the performers, also Mesdames Gair and Nilsson. The Theosophical Hall was brightly decorated with spring flowers. Following was the programme: —Cumo, “Sonata in G Minor’’ (Scarlatti), Miss D. Rush; vocal. “Non So Pin, C'osa Son,” from “The Marriage of Figaro” ((Mozart) and “Kashmiri Song” (Finden), Mrs Nilsson ; piano, “Fantasia in C Minor” (Mozart), Miss J. Heath;, violin, “Berceuse” (Godard), Mrs F. Chittenden; piano, “La Cathedral Egloutie” (Debussy), Mrs Loch; vocal, “The Vagabond Song” (Williams) and “Bois Epais” (Lully), Mr A. Thomas; piano, “Scherzo in C Sharp Minor” (Chopin), Miss F. Revere. The accompaniments wiire played by Mesdames Gair and Loch.
