BISHOP OF LONDON

ALLEGED EXTREME VIEWS. LONDON, Aug. 21. The National Union of Protestants is opposing the confirmation tomorrow of Dr. Wand as Bishop of London. The union, in a protest to the VicarGeneral, alleges that, “as an extreme Anglo-Catholic, Dr. Wand is not a fit and proper person lor the position. His reli»ion is not the religion of the Church of England as established by the laws.” , „ „ The protest adds: "Dr. Wand laded to carry out his declaration in his former diocese of Bath and V\ ells that he would banish all erroneous and strange doctrines contrary to the Church of England. Altnough Dr. Wand is prepared to give a similar undertaking when he is conseciated Bishop of London, there is no reason to expect that lie will be more faithful to such promise than in his former diocese.”
