Miss I>. Bruce, teacher at Bainesse, is spending the school holidays at her lioine in Wanganui.

Mrs W. Whitehouse, of "Wellington, accompanied by her two sons, is visiting her parents, Mr and Mrs W. JrJ, Boon, of Queen Street, over the school holidays. At the meeting of women addressed by Mr C. M. Bowden, National M.P. for Wellington West, on Monday afternoon, Mrs W. F. Field was in the chair. The speaker, who was introduced by Mr J. C. Young, spoke along similar lines to those at the meeting of men which he addressed in the evening. A vote of thanks was accorded Mr Bowden en the motion of Mrs E. Briden-Jones. Prior to Mr Bowden's address, Mrs H. L. Harto K presented Mrs Bovvdcn with a. beautiful orchid spray on behalf of the women's section of the National Tarty. Mrs Bowden acknowledged the tribute. Mrs Field and other women members of the National Party entertained Mr and Mrs Bowden at afternoon tea at the close of the meeting.

One of the best known and most respected residents of Levin, Mrs F. H. Hudson, passed away at her residence 'last Friday, after a brier illness. Mrs Hudson 'attended a Victory thanksgiving service on the Thursday and became ill in the evening. The only daugiiter of Mr P. W. Goldsmith and the late Mrs Goldsmith, Mrs Hudson was born in Gisborne 51 years ago. She went to Levin when live years of age, and subsequently received her education at the Levin District High School. On leaving school she joined the staff ol : the Levin Borough Council, biie married Mr Frederick Hamsworth Hudson at Levin some 22 years ago and they have resided in the town ever sinee. Mrs Hudson always took a keen interest in St. John's Methodist Church, being a Sunday school teacher for a period. She was a member of the Ladies' Guild and was president ot the Levin District Women's Patriotic Committee at the time of her death. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, two daughters, and a son.
